Census Population Data 2016

Census of Population 2016 data is now available to view on Myplan.ie. The data comprises percent change in population, actual change and population by Electoral District and by County. For more information on Census of Population data please visit www.cso.ie


Provisional Schools Data 2014 - 2015

The MyPlan viewer has been updated with a recent Schools data layer provided by the Department of Education and Skills. This layer shows the provisional number of Post Primary, Primary and Special Primary schools in the Republic of Ireland for 2014 - 2015. This provisional dataset is to be updated with the final numbers for 2014 – 2015 in the coming months.


New Datasets Published On Myplan.ie

The Property Registration Authority of Ireland (PRAI) cadastral parcels, Pobal’s Deprivation Indices by Small Area (2006 and 2011) and Northern Ireland Development Plan data have been added to Myplan.ie.



The PRAI dataset contains the boundaries of all freehold and leasehold title to land in the Republic of Ireland. The Property Registration Authority (PRA) is the State organisation responsible for the registration of property transactions in Ireland. Their role is to provide a system of registration of title (ownership) to land, which is comprehensive and readily accessible. For more information please visit: http://www.prai.ie/



The Pobal Deprivation Index is a method of measuring the relative affluence or disadvantage of a particular geographical area using data compiled from various censuses. For more information please visit: http://www.pobal.ie/



The Northern Ireland Development Plans dataset contains information from the various development plans across Northern Ireland and comprising of Mineral Reserves, Hazards, Transportation, Landuse, Local Conservation, Conservation, Constraint or Safeguarding, Countryside and Plan Boundaries. If you have an issue with the site try refreshing your browser or clearing your browser cache, this will give you access the latest version. As part of the upgrade the MyPlan.ie webservices which can be used to bring MyPlan data into your own business applications can now be found at: http://maps.environ.ie/arcgis/rest/services/MyPlan



Unfinished Housing Survey 2014 available on Myplan.ie

On 22nd December 2014, Minister for Housing, Planning and Co-ordination of Construction 2020, Paudie Coffey, TD, published the third annual progress report on tackling the issue of unfinished housing developments which reveals a two thirds drop in the unfinished developments from 2010 to 2014. Among the key findings of this year’s survey are a 65% decrease in the number of unfinished development, an 81% decrease in the number of vacant homes in remaining unfinished development and the first recorded increase in construction activity on unfinished developments in four years. The locations of all the unfinished developments from 2012, 2013 and 2014 can be found in the Unfinished Housing data layer in the Myplan.ie viewer. Also visible on these layers are the developments which are substantially complete.


Residential Land Availability Survey 2014 available on Myplan.ie

The Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, in conjunction with Local Authority Planning Departments, carried out a national survey of all lands zoned for residential or primarily residential development in statutory local authority development plans and local area plans across Ireland with the aim to determine the location and quantity of lands that may be regarded as being undeveloped and available for primarily residential development purposes. A data layer has been added to Myplan.ie which shows these area, the current density, the potential number of dwellings and the name of the local authority concerned.


The Residential Land Availability areas can be found by opening the Myplan.ie Viewer, opening the Layer List and then opening the ‘Residential Land Availability’ layer from the Layer List.


March 2015 – Attention Myplan Service Consumers

The MyPlan web service url’s are changing. All new Myplan services can now be found at: http://maps.environ.ie/arcgis/rest/services/MyPlan


There may be users and sites referencing the current Myplan services in their GIS and other applications. If you are using these services you please ensure that you update your systems/applications to consume the new services above by the 14th of March. After this date the current Myplan services will terminate.

November 2014 – ‘Regional Indicators Report’ published on Myplan.ie

The Regional Indicators report was developed by the Regional Planners Network in order to provide a monitoring framework to measure the progress of the implementation of the Regional Planning Guidelines. The indicators contained within the report seek to identify, measure and monitor trends associated with the objectives contained within the RPGs under the common themes of Economic Prosperity, People and Places and Environment and Infrastructure and, as such, illustrate progress in achieving more balanced and sustainable regional development. Local Property Tax Waiver Areas available on Myplan.ie.

On 19 March 2013 Minister Phil Hogan, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government signed Statutory Instrument 91 of 2013 which lists the 423 unfinished housing developments or parts thereof which are subject to a waiver from the need to pay a local property tax. A data layer has been added to Myplan.ie which shows the boundaries of the waiver areas, the development name and address, and the name of the local authority concerned.


The waiver areas can be found by opening the Myplan.ie Viewer, opening the Layer List and then opening the ‘Local Property Tax Waiver Areas’ layer from the Layer List.


11 February 2013 - ‘Expiring Plans’ layer added to Myplan.ie

The Myplan map viewer has been upgraded with a new ‘Expiring Plans’ layer. This layer was set up so that members of the public and local authority personnel can track the plans relevant to their functional area which are due to expire within the next two years – the statutory review period of a plan. It is an informative tool designed to alert and prepare the relevant persons in preparing submissions and making new plan proposals.


28 November 2012 - 2012 Unfinished Housing Development Survey Launch

On 28 November 2012 Jan O’Sullivan TD, then Minister of State for Housing and Planning launched the findings of the Department’s 2012 National Housing Development Survey. This is the third annual survey of unfinished housing developments undertaken by the Department.

5 November 2012 - Myplan.ie Usage

Since its launch on 4 April 2012 Myplan.ie has received approximately 86 000 visits from about 26 500 unique visitors. In recent months about 70% of the visitors return to the site more than once.


Of the visitors over the period since the launch, just fewer than 99% are from English language browsers, but interestingly there have been just over 500 visits from French and Dutch language browsers combined. Although overwhelmingly visitors are from Ireland (80 045), more than 250 visitors have been from the UK (3506), USA (549), the Netherlands (342), France (330) and Germany (257).


In recent months the average number of visits on working days ranges between 450 and 700.

29 August 2012 - Myplan.ie Map Viewer Upgrade

The Myplan map viewer has been upgraded. Improvements to the map viewer include additional and updated data, improvements to some of the tools, an additional base layer and general improvements to the user interface.

4 April 2012 - Housing and Planning Minister launches new initiatives to enhance co-ordination and oversight of Irish Planning System

Minister for Housing and Planning Ms Jan O’Sullivan today Wednesday 4th April 2012 launched two new initiatives to enhance co-ordination and oversight of the Irish Planning System.


The Minister launched:

  1. Myplan.ie a new and free planning information system for the public on the details of all of the approximately 400 development plans and local area plans across the country; and
  2. The report of the Regional Authorities on the implementation of the 2010 Planning and Development (Amendment) Act in tackling previously excessive and uncoordinated zoning.
